Sportsmanship Recreational Sports at Midwestern State University are a fun and competitive activity for all currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff. Once participants play one game on a team’s roster, they may not play on another team throughout that sport's regular season and playoffs. All students must be currently enrolled at MSU.Īn individual may not participate on more than one team per sport however, a player may participate in the Men’s/Women’s division and the Co-Ed division if both are offered in a single sport. At SJC, an intentional foul is considered cheating and a gross offense against the spirit of competition. All players are encouraged to exercise good judgment in caring for the safety of others as well as themselves. Upholding high standards of integrity and fair play acknowledges this idea of cooperative competition. The spirit of play then is based on cooperation. You are indebted to them, as they are to you. Without your opponent, you have no game, no contest and no fun. What is part of the game is pure satisfaction of participation, getting fit and enhancing friendships. Abusive language toward officials and manipulation of the rules are not “part of the game”. Winning and losing are mere outcomes of this play spirit. Team sports activities find their origin in the basic human need for the spirit of play. Participation in the Rec Sports Program can provide and contribute to good physical health and social adjustment. There are valuable outcomes which give immediate satisfactions and insure treasured memories in all types of activities. Sound Rec Sports Programs give all students an opportunity to enjoy satisfying recreational activities varying from highly competitive to those of a non-competitive nature. The Rec Sports philosophy is based on the concept that students should have freedom of choice, equality of opportunity, and opportunity to share in planning, supervising, and implementing the program. Individual sports include racquetball, tennis, pool, jogging, table tennis and others. Team sports include flag football, ultimate Frisbee, soccer, softball, basketball, kickball, and many others. San Jacinto College has a full campus rec program, featuring team and individual competition in a variety of sports. Students must bring their San Jac Student ID to all events (If a student does not have their San Jacinto College Student ID, they will not be permitted to play ID’s are issued through enrollment services.).All events have men, women and coed leagues.There are NO team or individual entry fees for Rec Sports events.Faculty members are also eligible to participate in Rec Sports Programs. ![]() There are no entry or participation fees for currently enrolled San Jacinto College students. Individual sports include golf, racquetball, tennis, pool, table tennis, X-box and much more! All events are FREE. Team sports include flag football, sand flag football, ultimate frisbee, indoor soccer, soccer, softball, basketball, volleyball, sand volleyball and others. San Jacinto College has a full Rec Sports Program featuring team and individual sports. ![]()
